If you want to build a Wind Turbine

Dear Casa Robino.
May the wind be beneath your wings - all the wings you can make out of old bike rims and haywire.

If you would like to build a Wind Turbine, this is a fabulous hitch-out spot to start from: http://www.instructables.com/id/Wind_Power/

"i am never just in one place at a time"

i arrived very early this morning in porto, in a mere 6 rides, which is half of the amount that it took from amsterdam to grenoble.
during the day, all of the rides spoke only french, except for two, whom also spoke some moroccan arabic :)

on the second to last petrol station in france, i found a portuguese guy who was driving straight to porto. he was speaking to the servicemen in french, so i approached him french... we spoke for a little while, and he said he would be going in the direction of spain. he looked very spanish, so i decided to go ahead and ask:

New repression statistics

The self-declared state "Casarobino" has just jumped from the 149th to the 13th place in the scale of human rights (Human Right Watch tm) after the total censorship of the hospitality exchange website www.couchsurfing.org. It is now impossible for a citizen, a resident or a visitor of Casarobino to access the website from within the territory of the state. Our correspondant from Casarobino informs us that there is no concern whatsoever between the citizens of the state, and that the local medias did not emphasize the event.

Back home!

I came back from Hamburg where my ex-roommate had stollen all the stuff in the flat and even worse, canceled our internet contract. One month struggling to get free stuff to furnish the flat, a new roommate, all that from the cyber-cafe, or squatting at friends. It was about time I came again to Amsterdam.

It's on my way anyway, I'm catching a plane to Réunion, Indian Ocean next Monday from Paris.

Yesterday we had like 8 people around a Finnish vegetarian meal (nothing is impossible). Did you guys know that those nuts drink milk during the meal? You did? Oh... sorry.

Healthywiki kick off

I just spent 10 minutes setting up Healthywiki. You're the first to know I guess.

OpenID is working and I started a wee script that will make it easier to set up the next wiki.

P.S. Dennis: try slicehost.com. So far I've been very happy with them.

typical casa dinner scene

typical casa dinner scene

i won't be here for this week's thursday night dinner, but i hear anu will be making something traditionally finnish. anyway, here's an image of a typical dinner at our place. (hummus, greens, noodles, tomato-avocado salad, etc.)

All i want to know is what came from the dumpster - or friendly merchants giving it away. Paxus

Homenade to our cooks

Cooking is language, cooking is identity, cooking is a primary need of all humankind. It is culinary skill, manual dexterity, and the ability to capture the right mix of flavor and spiciness. (...) a sign of humankind's serene relationship with nature and life. (ref). Those words I just read in the book Manifestos on the Future of Food & Seed, while waiting for everyone to sit around the table to eat the simple but great dinner Amylin had just prepared.

Dinner is a basic thing here in the house, it helps building community, it creates a nice atmosphere, and most important, space for everyone to interact with each other. Almost daily we therefore eat jointly with whoever is there. We always eat well here - the last couple of months also mostly freegan - with at times brilliant cooks.

Dumpstering at the Albert Cuyp

Saturdays are always a great day for Dumpstering in Amsterdam. And what is a cozier place for dumpstering than the most famous Amsterdam market, Albert Cuyp? Not only you will find lots of left-overs between 5 and 6 but you also get to meet quite a few of your fellow divers.

This Saturday I recognized 2 women with whom I had gone through some bins before. Now though there were quite some more people I hadn't met before, making us a total of 8.
