Beauties! Check out this awesome site/program i just stumbled on - bicyclebenefits.org

They are set up all over North America, but still very grassroots - the idea is that you buy a sticker for 5dollars from a local business (who has bought them for 2.50), put it on your helmet, and anywhere you go that has the sticker on the door, you get free stuff and discounts. It's to encourage people to ride their bikes around towns/communities and to get benefits if they do.

I've been in the [[http://www.ciemmona.org/2009/|Ciemmona 2009]] in Rome - it holds the [[http://www.inventati.org/criticalmass/planet/|Critical Mass]] Interplanetary.
It was a very beautiful event, stimulating and creating this consciousness to use the bicycle.
We were in 2 or 3 thousand people, riding through Rome's roads, for hours, all the day long, until the night.
People participating from many countries other than Italy, like France, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia.
And of all ages, from babies on the chests to old people. Also, lots of artists, playing and juggling during the ride.

It was the Wright brothers, those enterprising Ohio bike dudes of history, that discovered a way to keep airplanes in flight. They believed that flight technology would make wars of attrition obsolete - a noble scientific aim. But the inventor of dynamite, the inventor of the machine gun; they too believed the same thing of their own never-before-seen technological accomplishments. High hopes for the cutting-edge geniuses of our progress-hungry society.
