A participed documentary on riding bikes around the world : For thousand miles"

I have found this amazing production blog about a documentary on long bike journeys.

I suggest you to explore their website: http://projectpedal.com/
You will find a very good guide about how to make a documentary and great video materials.

Inspiring.

One of the best quotes: "Because in the end it has almost nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with setting out to accomplish something that is intimidating, that is unknown to you, something you know you have a good chance of failing at but doing it anyways and slowly but surely proving yourself wrong."

Thanks to Charlie, Lily, and my friend Sander.
Thanks to all the ones not stopping in front of the risk of failing.

oh man...

oh, man! The day after I drop the camera I was borrowing for this bike trip and break it... :(

100% true. For this reason, I like to have a backup plan. In this case, the backup plan is to take a train to Amsterdam and hang out at the Casa ahead of schedule. Thanks Casa! See you soon...

Currently failing to meet all the things I set out to accomplish,
But doing the best I can and having fun doing it,

I also hope this can be of inspiration for you (not that you need some... :P ).
I wish to manage to come to Casa before the kick off of your journey to listen about all the unplanned plans and unrouted routes...

hugs to the bike riders (pretty much : everyone in The Netherlands)!

hooray for indie film!

Yeah, wow. Makes me want to film some stuff - again. Checked out their site, man... documentaries are a lot of work! Mon chapeau!!
I love that guy's voice - his voice-over isn't too bad is it? It IS possible!
And what a good point about "this is the only footage that exists" - I kept thinking "Yeah but I document with writing" (which I'm perpetually behind on) but he's right - visually, nothing beats video footage.
Heh... leaving everything behind, swimming against the current, leaving my support network - all that seems easy compared to making a film!
Props.
Anyway - YAY BIKES!!!

hugz!

I love the voice over. it

I love the voice over. it makes it very personal... like a diary.
I actually find it more honest that other styles: it is clear that what we are seeing is a subjective representation of some kind of reality...

I suppose the cheaper, faster and most effective way to collect this kind of material is a digital voice recorder. I had one before leaving for Mexico... but has been stolen to me (with my passport) on a bus meanwhile I was taking a nap.

Because I was planning to do an editing of pictures and voice over, I had to use my photographic digital camera instead... we will see what's gonna be the result in some time...

heartfelt thanks

Valentina, thank you so much for posting. I couldn't have needed a better morning inspiration. I am close to finishing my 5min doco, struggling with how happy i am with it, and I just really really really appreciate this motivation - it's exactly what i needed. Thank you for reminding me i'm facing fears.

Love!
