"When we follo nature's rules, growth is good. The question before us is not growth versus no growth, it is:what would good growth look like? And this is a question of intent, of design.
What if we grow health instead of sickness, home ownership instead of indigence, education instead of ignorance?" (Bill McDonough)
a really inspiring speech on TED, whichs philosophy is already growing in the netherlands. But watch it yourself:

Free the Craddle - start a free certification process
Oh yeah I remember that evening so well also. First night in the Caravan, PV house in Berlin and we were offered a workshop on craddle-to-craddle and how this is going to change everything. The new revolution so to say. And just like now (do not take it personal Wukk), another youngster was doing a presentation on it and was very thrilled about it.
Boo. Such a waste. Do something useful!
I got out of the room and only came back for the discussion to make just one point: The term 'C2C Certification' is a protected term of the McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) consultants. It is a proprietary system of certification. source:
Further to this, the concept is not new. It is as old you want it to be, do you remember the times when our houses were made of wood, and we were only using organic technology?
Lastly. Promoting solutions that are not "free" is not helping us much. You want to be Craddle to Craddle? Great! But only if you pay my company, and the people we have 'certified'.
If they wouldn't make a monopoly around their business model, which is exactly what they have done, than it might be worthwhile to promote it.
Anyway. At least it wakes people up to the fact that many solutions are there already. If only more people would wake up that we don't need (patented) solutions, but we need 'free solutions' "free, libre and open source".
