shit luck

I just realized that I can't seem to find my hitchhiking notebook anywhere. I've somewhere, somehow lost it.

My hitchhiking notebook is an unlined white notebook full of signs, destinations I've hitchhiked in the past 6 months, over two continents and innumerable locations.

It had a lot of sentimental value and stories attached to it (obviously), and as it was full, I was planning to scan its pages in at CasaRobino before I left, but the scanners were not yet working. Some of the signs were nice drawings, and I wanted a way to preserve them.

Anyway, I've just realized now that it's somehow gone. It's not with my stuff, not in this apartment... but where, then?

I had it when I was in the car of my last driver, a great driver, really, who took me from the edge of France to Porto. That was late-night, through the night, through the magical snowfall, and when we arrived in Porto at early morning rush hour, I was somewhat sleepy and in a daze from the little bit of hash I smoked with him the night before combined with the residual super-high feeling of visiting a good friend in France... And we had just arrived so suddenly, in the middle of a book I was reading, when my driver (who was actually kinda cute, I kept on giggling to myself the night before) was giving me the adeus beijinhos and leaving me at a bus stop because the city-center was a mess of morning traffic. I didn't leave him my e-mail address or contact info like I had wanted to...I figured that we just might wind up running into each other on the street sometime, if anything. This is a small city, where things like that just tend to happen, more often than not. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me. I thought I had taken all of my stuff with me, and to the best of my recollection (even now), I thought I had.

So, maybe I left it on the bus. I don't remember now. The only other place I can possibly think of is the café where I had first picked up my apartment keys at, across the street from here, but I doubt it.

Oh well... I have to start a new notebook now.
