Attribution (psychology) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attribution is a concept in social psychology referring to how individuals explain causes of events, other's behaviour, and their own behaviour.

Attribution and culture:
Different cultures have different attribution tendencies. Collectivist cultures tend to use situational attribution, while individualist cultures tend to use dispositional attribution. While there are some overlap, culture has a large affect on attribution heuristics.[18]

Causal uncertainty:
At times people are not sure why an event happened. This can threaten their ability to predict and control events.
