digesting uncooked vegan food

A long walk back to the hotel after a graet vegan dinner downtown Boston, in a restaurant where Amylin would love to cook; I am still recovering from all the information that our point in the matrix gave me about the short life "CS 2.0" lived. So much information in such a short time - very rewarding.

Laying on a mat in a Bedouin camp by the red sea, I can't help but be envious of all you in cold, wet climates. It's beautiul, hope everyone is having fun wherever they are [or heading].

Vegan Carrot Cake!

Hey crew! Im back in delft for a few days, and have been doing more dumpstering here... got so many carrots we didnt know what to do with, so decided to make a cake! Having recently turned vegan, i made an attempt at my first non-egg/butter gateau... and I must say... it was brilliant! Tasted just like a real cake, if not better, so thought id pass on the recipe... its really simple!

Ingredients:

2 cups grated carrots
1 1/2 cups raisins
2 cups water
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cloves
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1 cup soy milk
2 tsp baking soda

creating it together

"Whoever is here is creating it together", writes Kasia on her blog Mama Kas on the Road. She stayed together with Sky for some days in the house, which was a great experience I think for all of us.

She also writes how she got 40 euro while busking, how she tried fixing the bikes with Sky, the dumpster diving results (3 giant bags with avocados, tomatoes, radishes, eggplants, carrots, star fruit, melon, pineapple, plums, and papaya) and how she observed the communal trash-dinner we recently had: "It felt totally comfortable and easy to take over the kitchen, rummage for spices, cook up a bunch of food, make tea... making me realize that my longing to root is not a desire to own my own house necessarily - the need is totally satisfied in being able to cook for people and host in this fluid way."

Don't ask

Don't ask

Don't ask but this is the view from my current room. Meanwhile I am thinking why we still don't have any vacuum tube transport systems in place, which make you travel across the Atlantic in less than 10-15 minutes on a zero-waste basis. I also received a nice answer from above. I just missed all pins seven times on a row while bowling. One colleague simply said: face it robin, "you are just not born for this". Right on.

Share your trash!

Share your trash!

So good how things always fall together, like Lily asking yesterday if anyone is going out for dumpster-diving, and Kassia and Sky who were planning to do just that. While Anu and Anca went out to see Petter's performance, we had another great dinner made out of trash. I believe the video-footage is also pretty cool, it shows the cooking, diving at the market and the eating. During dinner we also had so-called meaningful conversations about intentional communities and social-relational communication. Ah, connections.

Ha, also Kasper managed to get in a truck with a driver that has internet on-board. He e-mailed us on the road in Bulgaria saying he had a great sleep in Pitesti and that he is now on his way to Istanbul.
