we laugh indoors

While I have funnier stories to tell but no time for writing at the moment, I stumbled across this scary blog post.
Quote: "It appears that routine searches of one’s home to check for a vast array of “problems" are now performed door-to-door in The Netherlands. The city of The Hague is inspecting all homes in a number of neighborhoods."
You don't have this in Amsterdam yet, do you?
I also found the last sentence very noticeable: "Either way: the minute I get one of these letters, I will sue. If I loose, I’ll sell my house and move to Berlin."
I always thought The Netherlands were a more liberal society than Germany is, but while legalized squats and activists are subjected to illegal police raids from time to time, it is a national sport to slam doors into the faces of TV licence inspectors (every owner of a radio, TV or PC even is supposed to pay a licence for the state propaganda media in Germany).
I can't imagine the turkish nor student community in my mixed neighborhood would accept door to door searches and this is what is call a “power neighborhood” in the article.

update

The German building authorities have also the "right" to enter buildings without a warrant.
And... how sick is this? Western Europe is a lot more fucked than I thought, there's really everything in place for the next sick dictatorship...

want to laugh more but

Thanks for pointing this. Next dictatorships are much on their way, though things are still different. It is interesting but so sad to see developments like these and for example "citizen watch" in Italy, all advocated with the discourse of 'civicism'.

Anyway. In Amsterdam, local government groups also go door-to-door. Although Amsterdam is still a bit (!) different case than other parts of the country, you can expect this to increase after the next elections. Especially as a way to locate and deport people without a legal status. Our neighborhood could be part of that.

But yes we still have the right to stop anyone entering the house without our permission, something we should.
